John Adams was born on 10 November 1827 at Pitcairn Island. He was the son of George Adams and Polly Young. He married Caroline Quintal, daughter of Arthur Quintal and Catherine McCoy, on 16 April 1843 at Pitcairn Island. He died on 29 May 1897 at age 69 at Norfolk Island.
He was Councillor of Norfolk Island in 1858.
